Where was Obama? Some exculpatory theories from Debate 1

Where was Obama; some exculpatory
theories on being crushed

[column for MediaHooker, October 4th, 2012]

Dateline:  The first Presidential debate 2012, with moderator Jim Lehrer -  Denver, CO.  Where was Obama last night; surely not at his own Presidential debate!  The strangeness is almost impossible to explain using a common matrix of rational analysis, so I spit-balled some out-of-the-box possibilities:

*The President spends enormous energy telling us how wonderful he is, and how much he likes himself.  Did this overconfidence keep him from debate-prep time that he should have invested?  This begs the question, "Is this a serious leader, or was the hideous performance caused by a distraction?"

*Was Obama deep in a contemplatory mode working out the details of an impending RAID ON LIBYA?  We know that a raid, in order to salvage the presidential ego is in the works, and will "October surprise" us at the most politically expedient moment; just when a distraction is most needed...

*Perhaps the Prez was in deep thought, about to hand a pink slip to SecState Hillary Rodham, based upon the absentee management of Diplomatic Security concerns.  Somebody is going to have to take the fall and deflenct from the White House!

*Did an infiltraitor drop a horse-tranquilizer pill into Obama's Dasani water?  The man was JUST NOT THERE.

*Is the fix "in" on the result of Election 2012 so much so that our lead executive is holding back?

Gotta be something.....

Even Rush Limbaugh + Glenn Beck could not overindulge enough verbiage to over-exaggerate this debate outcome!

The debate began with an obvious contest of which contestant could be the most congenial.  "I'm really happy to be with you tonight, Mr. President; NO, I"M more happy to be with YOU tonight...Governor..."

Shortly thereafter, NPR's Jim Lehrer totally lost control, and the stomping of Obama by Romney began in earnest.  The body language of Obama was pittiful; he looked left, then right, smirked and grammaced, appearing to look for his trusty TELEPROMPTER.

Split-screen video showed the knowing victor contrasting sharply with the absently vanquished empty-chair president, but only on savvy CNN and Fox.

"Mr. TelePrompter" was not invited, so Obama was without his most reliable advisor; no cloths and all of that...

A color commentator to the "debate" could have used many a boxing reference in a running dialogue:
"He's on the ropes.....He's back on his heels, waiting for the bell.....Obama just wishes it would be over.....They are about to stop the fight!"

Defensive mode and a reactionary posture ensured from the start that Obama would never catch stride.  Romney counter-punched and rebutted all attempts.  The best defense WAS a good offense, and strategy by Romney surely caught his opponnent off guard....

It's almost like Obama threw the fight.  Didn't care about the outcome.... Does he know something we don't know about why the dabate was not important?

Beware, folks; I sense a trap.  This was too easy.  Look for a game-changing surprise.
